| My story... My name is Eric Gately, I am a 10th grade student at Bristol Plymouth Vocational School in Taunton, Massachusetts and over the past four summers I've been able to avoid the horror of summer camp. Eric's Bait Shop started during the summer of 2002. I was faced with the inevitable prospect of summer camp, when the idea hit me. I LOVE to fish... My mom is the Marina Manager for Boston Harbor Shipyard & Marina... Why not bring the empty freezer that was in our basement to the Marina and sell bait. My mom thought it was a great idea, one that would also benefit the marina's fuel dock customers. So it began, the freezer made its way to a vacant building in the shipyard and I sold frozen bait and sea worms. Boaters were thrilled they could now buy bait and fuel at one stop. Last
year, I opened earlier, at 6:00 a.m. and word spread to the land
fisherman who lived in East Boston and the surrounding area. Because
business was doing well, and I had no desire to go to summer camp
ever again, I decided to make my shop bigger. With the help of my
Dad I doubled the size of my shop and brought in a wide variety
of tackle. I have been very
lucky to have friends at the Marina who help me out. Jason, Scotty,
and all of the dockhands have been able to help me open my business
every day while I am in school. They are always there to help me
when I need it. Dept.
